Dialogue with De Chirico
Dialoguing with De Chirico belongs to the "City" series.
On the creation of this work -
Urban centers have always been the source of inspiration for most of the artist's productions. This work was inspired after reading about the De Chirico's life, a Greek surrealist painter who lived in Germany. Her poetics focused mainly on life in big cities and the reading impressed the artist in such a way that, as expected, it resulted in an artwork. A large painting was assembled with collages, drawings, painting and a lot of creation. The work portrays the lives of passers-by involved in their comings and goings through the city streets. The nervous traffic seems not to be bothered by the “humanity” of its inhabitants and incessantly runs up and down crossing the city, which already seems arid and lifeless. In the middle of this turmoil, there is a glimpse of a way out. This is, then, a moment of singular discovery for the observer...
The painting is shown in the format of a house, like a museum - De Chirico's museum with his works of art. Media used - Paper, pencil, watercolour, paper card, acrylics and collage.
